Install GRADEFLOW
Allow five minutes. GRADEFLOW comes as a signed GRADEFLOW.zxp file, which you install with a free tool from aescripts.
What you need
- An Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) running macOS 15 or later.
- Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 or 2026, with the Creative Cloud app open and signed in.
- DaVinci Resolve Studio 21. The free version doesn't allow automatic sending, and versions 18 to 20 haven't been tested.
- The GRADEFLOW.zxp file, to download below. To use it: the free 3-day trial, then a license key, received by email after purchase.
Download
Version 2.2.8, for macOS. The file installs freely. You can then try GRADEFLOW free for 3 days, then activate it with the key you receive by email after purchase.
Download GRADEFLOW 2.2.8Signed .zxp file, 490 KB
-
Download ZXP/UXP Installer
It's aescripts' free tool for installing Adobe extensions. Download the macOS version from aescripts.com, then open it. If macOS asks you to confirm opening a downloaded app, click Open.
-
Quit Premiere Pro
Install with Premiere closed.
-
Drag GRADEFLOW.zxp into the window
Drop the file into the ZXP/UXP Installer window and wait for the message saying the installation is done.
-
Open Premiere Pro, then a project
The Extensions menu stays grayed out on the home screen, so open a project first. Then go to the Window menu, Extensions, GRADEFLOW.
-
Try it, or activate your license
To try it, click “Essayer gratuitement pendant 3 jours” (Try free for 3 days). There is one trial per Mac, and during the trial the Mac must be connected to the internet before each send. If you have a key, paste it (it starts with GF-), then click “Activer” (Activate). In both cases, you need to be online for this step.
-
Set up DaVinci Resolve Studio
In Resolve: DaVinci Resolve menu, Preferences, System tab, General. Set “External scripting using” to Local, save, then restart Resolve. Without this setting, GRADEFLOW can't talk to it, and the panel will tell you.
Before your first send
Rendered clips are ProRes 4444, about 6 GB per minute in 4K. If your internal drive is almost full, choose an external drive for the sends folder, in the panel's “Réglages” (Settings).
Updating
The panel tells you when a new version is published. Download the new .zxp file and install it with ZXP/UXP Installer, with Premiere closed, the same way as the first time: the new version replaces the old one. Your key stays valid, and your settings and sends are kept. All version 2 updates are free.
Switching Macs
In GRADEFLOW, open “Réglages” (Settings), then “Licence” (License), and click “Libérer ce Mac” (Release this Mac). The key can then be activated on the new one. You can do this three times per 30-day period; beyond that, write to contact@gradeflowstudio.com.
Uninstalling
Release the license first if you no longer plan to use this Mac. Then open ZXP/UXP Installer, select GRADEFLOW and remove it. Your sends stay in the sends folder: delete them by hand to get the space back.
If something goes wrong
- The Window, Extensions menu is grayed out. Open a project first.
- GRADEFLOW doesn't appear in the menu. Restart Premiere and check that the Creative Cloud app is up to date.
- Resolve isn't in the Applications folder. GRADEFLOW finds it on its own, even in a subfolder, in your account's Applications folder or on another drive. If it can't, choose it by hand in the panel's “Réglages” (Settings), DaVinci Resolve section, “Choisir” (Choose) button.
- “Resolve ne répond pas aux scripts” (Resolve is not responding to scripts). Check the “External scripting using” setting above, and that you are really using Resolve Studio.
Still stuck? Write to contact@gradeflowstudio.com and attach the GRADEFLOW-journal.txt file from the sends folder. Other questions are answered in the help.
